I'm not going to have time to COMPLETELY review each of the seasons entirely, so I'll talk about them up to their current point and share my thoughts with you.
Let's begin ladies and gents...
TRUE BLOOD - Last night's episode "Timebomb" was a very entertaining one indeed. My only problem was the week before showed WAY TOO MUCH in the preview for this episode giving away a lot of potential surprises. Everything happens rather quickly in this episode, but all develops well in the season. The war is about to begin until Godric stops everyone, humans and vampires, from killing each other. Really, if Godric didn't say anything, maybe one vampire would have died and every human would be dead. The episode ends with a nice, "Oh shit, what the hell is going to happen next week?!" I don't want to describe the entire episode, just go watch it ASAP. This episode was good, this entire season has been great. It's extremely addictive as the first season was. I wish there was more Lafayette in the show since he was one of the fan favorites from last season.
Should I watch the episode for a 2nd time on demand or Tivo?: I already have because I liked it a lot.
HUNG - HBO's newest show has been one of the more unique shows on television. Last night's episode "Doris is Dead or Are we Rich or Are We Poor?" was good as well last night. The episode focused on the relationship of Ray and his pimp and Ray and his new, INTERESTING client who pays him to be in a fantasy life with her. As Ray becomes more fond of his client, his pimp begins to become jealous. Meanwhile, Ray's two kids and wife are introduced to his pimp (unknown to them) and his new love interest, who, at the end of the episode, he confesses he wants to be more than just client and gigolo.
For it's first season, the show has been doing very well developing the characters and following a consistent story. It may take a little while to develop the storyline, but it's much better when it takes its time rather than force it. It got renewed for a 2nd season along with Entourage and True Blood getting all renewed for another season which is great news.
Should I watch the episode for a 2nd time on demand or Tivo?: You can if you have nothing to do. It's short enough if you need to pass the time. And the end of the episode is priceless when Ray kisses the woman he's in love with while his family and pimp watch in awe. PRICELESS, watch it for that reason, best part of the episode.
ENTOURAGE: Last night's episode "FORE!" was a great filler episode for the show. BUT WHY WAS IT SO SHORT?! I don't know, it upsets me as well. Several people sent me texts as to why the episode was so short, but I still wasn't sure. Only thing I can say is greatness comes in smaller doses, ask me, I'll explain later in detail. It's a great filler episode that is meant simply for laughs with little to no movement in the major plot. Though, this episode still comes a distant 2nd to the best filler episode of Entourage ever, The Day Fuckers (the one where Eric and Turtle have to have sex with a girl by the end of the day for $5,000). It's sad that Ari is still on the outs with Mrs. Ari since of his good ol' friend Andrew, who in my opinion will not last into next season (no, he's not gonna get clipped like someone would on The Sopranos, I was thinking more of the line of getting fired).
If I tell you ANYTHING that happens in the episode, I could be giving away the entire thing. It's hilarious, Jeffrey Tambor guests stars in it and goes golfing with Ari. Even Tom Brady is in it and he does a good job! (It hurts me to say that since I'm a Jets fan, but he's a good guy, gotta give him props).
Just go watch it, you'll laugh at Johnny Drama outdoing Ari by how funny he is in the episode. Maybe that's why Kevin Dillon got the emmy nom this year and not Jeremy Piven (in all fairness though, Jeremy has won 3 emmys in a row...lucky man).
Overall quick review of Entourage, I am very much enjoying this season. I think it's the best season behind season 2 (the best season of the show YET). The only episode I wasn't a huge fan of was the first episode, but so far looking back it was a nice setup to the rest of the season. I loved the 2nd episode of the season, I still think the best one, maybe not the funniest (that my be week 3) but still great episode.
Should I watch the episode for a 2nd time on demand or Tivo?: I already did this morning, so I don't see why not, it's short enough.
Until next week of HBO SUNDAY.........
